Passive / Neighborhood Parks

 

Central Park
Located at 13th Ave. and 101st St. this park is also known as Library Park. The park is the major greenspace located in the downtown area. The park features a number of stately elm and ash trees thereby making it a favorite summer spot to sit and have lunch or to simply relax in the outdoors. The park also features a water fountain which operates through the summer season and has become a popular backdrop for photography for special occasions.

H.D. McPhail Park
Located at 13th Ave. and 100th St. this park is the location for the City's Cenotaph. The park is dedicated to the men and women who have served our country in armed conflicts through the years. The park is named after H. (Howdy) D. McPhail a World War II bomber pilot who typifies the local men and women who have served in these conflicts. The park is also the location for the City's Geodetic Survey of Canada pin.

Peace Park
Located at 13th Ave. and 112th St. this is a passive park that is well treed and offers opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. There is also enough open space to throw a ball around or for some other activity. The park has a memorial donated by the local community that is dedicated to the World War II Veterans who made their homes in this area of the City. The memorial also has a sundial attached to it.

College Heights Park
Located at Thompson Cres. And St. Laurent Dr. this small neighborhood park has enough open space for the local kids to play in plus there is a small piece of playground equipment. The playground equipment was sponsored by the local A.C.T. club.

Confederation Park
This neighborhood park is located between Gardiner and Clark Drives. The park is basically open space that can be used by the neighborhood. The local A.C.T. sponsored a small piece of playground equipment that is located in the SE corner of the park.

Rotary Park
Located behind the Boys and Girls club at 13th Ave. and 104th St. this park consists of playground apparatus for younger children. With the cooperation of the local Rotary club the City replaced the aging equipment with a new set of play equipment in 2000.

Fairview TOT Lot
Located along Ross Cres. this park consists of open space plus some playground equipment that has been cosponsored by the local A.C.T. club. In 2001 the City supervised playground program will operate from this site, however, the program will relocate to the new park on Clements Dr. in 2002. The existing playground equipment will remain and the park will continue as a neighborhood park.

Kildeer Park
This park is located along Kildeer Dr. This L shaped play space consists of open green space with a small piece of playground equipment located on it. In 2001 this playground equipment will be added to so that the play value is enhanced. During the winter there is a small outdoor rink located beside the park

Riverview Park
Located at 99th St. and 7th Ave. this park has been developed for the use of the Riverview area residents. With the assistance of the North Battleford Lions Club a small playground apparatus has been provided. As well some of the other areas in the park have been irrigated and developed as green play spaces or simply areas to sit and enjoy the outdoors, There are several places along 99th St. that offer a good view of the River Valley. In the winter there is a small outdoor rink located at this site as well
