Centennial Park

 

Located off 18th Ave. and 104th Street

This 90 acre park is the focal point of North Battleford's recreation activity and programs. Besides being the site of the Kinsmen Aquatic Center and the N.B. Civic Center it also features large open space areas as well as a number of outdoor recreation facilities.

BEAVER LIONS BASEBALL STADIUM
This stadium is a full senior baseball diamond complete with lights, grass infield, electronic scoreboard, concession and irrigated outfield. This facility is one of the best in the province. It has seating for over 1000 people. In the summer it is the home of the North Battleford Beavers Intermediate, Junior and Midget baseball teams. In the fall the Stadium is converted to a full sized football field that is used by the local High School Vikings as well as the local touch football teams.

LIONS BALL DIAMONDS
This is a complex of four ball diamonds located immediately north of the Civic Center. The diamonds are used by the local minor baseball, softball and adult fastball and slo pitch leagues. One diamond is a full sized baseball diamond while the others vary in size from bantam to pee wee size. The diamonds all have shale infields, covered dugouts, irrigated outfields and are completely fenced. Washrooms are available adjacent to the diamonds.

SLO PITCH DIAMONDS
There are two regulation slo pitch diamonds located off Pearson Ave. at the east end of the Park. These diamonds are completely fenced, have dirt/sand infields and irrigated outfields. The diamonds are used by the local slo pitch leagues and are often used in conjunction with the Lions diamonds for larger tournaments.

TRACK AND FIELD COMPLEX
This complex features an all weather 400m track complete with separate jump pits, pole vault area, high jump area and a throwing cage. The track is complete with electrical hookup and has an excellent side hill setup for spectators. Washroom and concession facilities are available in the playground shelter adjacent to the track.

SOCCER PITCHES
Centennial Park has 3 full size irrigated soccer pitches that are irrigated and offer an excellent playing surface. Even though they are located in different areas of the Park they are easy walking distance of each other. The pitches are used by the local minor soccer association as well as adult soccer leagues. The minor soccer association also has their clubhouse building located across from the Aquatic Center. This provides an ideal setup for tournaments.

CENTENNIAL PARK PLAYGROUND
This playground is located just north of Beaver Lions Stadium. It features a complete set of play apparatus, a playground shelter and a paddling pool. The City operates a playground program in July and August that is free of charge to all users. The shelter doubles as a washroom an concession for the track complex.

TENNIS COURTS
Located at 1831 - 106th Street this facility boasts five painted courts. The courts are available for public use from mid April to the end of October, weather permitting. There is no charge for the use of courts. Washroom facilities are available in the Swim Pool during public hours.

HORSESHOE PITCHES
Located at 1831 -106th Street there are 24 regulation courts located beside the Lions Clubhouse. The pits are available for public use but there is an active horseshoe club that schedules regular league play throughout the summer.

LAWN BOWLING GREEN
Located at 1851 - 106th Street this facility is used regularly by the local lawn bowling club throughout the season. The facility is a regulation lawn bowling green that allows the local club to host a number of events throughout the season. The facility is scheduled by the local club.

LIONS CLUBHOUSE
Located at 1841 - 106th Street this facility serves as a clubhouse for the horseshoe and lawn bowling clubs from May to September. During the winter season the facility is available for small group meetings and workshops. It can accommodate approx. 20 - 25 people and is complete with washrooms and a small kitchen area. Users are expected to leave the facility as clean or cleaner than they found it.

WALKING AND SKI TRAILS
The city has developed a system of waking trails throughout the park area. They are covered with crusher dust and are suitable for walking, jogging of cycling. They can be accessed form a number of starting points in the Park. In the winter the City grooms approx. 1.8 km of trails for cross country and skate skiing
