Active Parks

Kinsmen Park
Located along 18th Ave. between 92nd St. and 96th St. this park area contains ball diamonds, a fully serviced playground site and lots of open green space.

There are three ball diamonds located between 18th and 19th Ave. These diamonds have sand/soil infields and have no outfield fences. This allows for lots of open space for other activities when the area isn't being used for ball games. The diamonds are used mostly by minor baseball and softball.

The playground area features a handicap accessible play structure, swings, a newly constructed spray pool and a playground shelter. This is one of the supervised playground sites during July and August.

Along with these features the park has lots of open space to throw a ball around or simply to find a quiet spot to while away the time on a sunny afternoon.

Holy Family Park
Located off 19th Ave. between 95th St. and Walker Dr. this park is connected to the school ground at Holy Family school.

The park is mainly open space. Minor soccer runs their mini soccer program in this park. There is a small hill in the park that can be used for sliding in the winter As well the City grooms a short cross country ski track in the park.

With the connection to the school yard there are two pieces of playground equipment available. As well the City and the school cooperated in developing a Naturescaping project in the school yard. This area provides the school with an outdoor classroom area and offers the chance to see a number of different plant species in a naturalized setting.

Fairview Park
Located off Clements Dr. and Maher Dr. in the Fairview Heights area this park is under construction in 2001 and will be ready for use in 2002.

When completed the park will consist of a full sized soccer pitch, a playground site and an outdoor rink. The park is intended to provide open space for the local residents to use. The playground will have playground equipment as well as a shelter. Starting in 2002 this will be the location of the supervised playground program the City offers in July and August.
