This multipurpose facility is the former St. Thomas College resident school. In 1984 the City purchased the facility with the idea of providing a community recreation center. The facility is named after Don Ross, a former Councilor and long time supporter of community activities
The Don Ross Center is made up of the Chapel Gallery, a number of offices, classrooms and meeting rooms, a gymnasium and an arena. The Center is the permanent home of a number of community based groups and services including: Dept. of Social Services Child and Youth Services, Battlefords Heath District Child Youth Services, Avalon School, Manacowin School, Battlefords Society of Autism, Early Childhood Intervention Program, Battlefords Minor Hockey offices and City Archives. The Center also offers artists studio space on a long term rental basis
Gymnasium - this is a large multipurpose facility that functions as a gym, a hall and a performing hall. The hall can accommodate up to 500 people for a banquet and over 700 people for spectators for a concert or performance. The facility has a good stage. It has a full service kitchen, a bar and an ample lobby area. The facility is also used by sporting groups for badminton, floor hockey, soccer, volleyball and basketball.
Meeting Rooms - The facility has a number of meeting rooms that can accommodate from 6 - 80 persons in a variety of different setups. As well we have available overhead projectors, TV/VCR, flipcharts, white boards, blackboards, screens, a small P.A. system and a coffee service available to our renters.
There is also an outdoor area that can be used for barbecues in the summer. There is ample green space for children's games, ballgames etc. There is parking both in front and behind the building.
