Parks and Recreation Department Overview
The North Battleford Parks and Recreation Dept. is directed by City Council. The Department also works with a Parks and Recreation Board that acts in an advisory capacity to City Council

DEPARTMENT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

  • To provide quality leisure services in the most efficient manner and at a fair and reasonable cost to the taxpayer
  • To maintain, improve and develop City green space; provide and maintain active and passive parks, public reserves and other dedicated parkland in the community.
  • To provide specific and direct recreation facilities and programs at a fair and reasonable cost to all citizens of the City
  • To consult and work with community groups to ensure a broad range of recreation opportunities are available and minimize the duplication of services.
  • To maintain a program of continual evaluation and assessment of community recreational services in order to plan various forms of leisure activities which meet the needs and desires of our citizens

In order to meet our goals and objectives we are involved in six key areas:

  1. Operation of City recreation facilities, including active parks.
  2. Provision of and support for arts and cultural services.
  3. Direct and indirect recreation programming.
  4. Parks and cemeteries
  5. Maintenance of City buildings and equipment.
  6. Capital projects in support of the above
