Painting with a palette knife with Darrell Baschak
Thursday, June 26th - 9-4pm
This one day workshop will introduce participants to painting with the palette knife in either oil or acrylic paints. Course outline is available at the gallery. This should be a most interesting day for anyone who loves paint.
Brush, Chisel and Power Bar: Art Moving ahead with Energy
This gathering of working artists at the Chapel Gallery is an opportunity to view other prominent 21st century artists through a video format in the company of fellow artists to stimulate the inner driving force of artistic venues and provide opportunities for exploration. Coffee, tea and nourishment provided. This event will be held monthly on the last Monday of each month resuming again in September. Please register to provide time for adequate nourishment for this event.

Member Show - Postcard - Sacred Feminine - November, 2008
Postcard must be submitted to the gallery by September 28th.
Gallery members are invited to submit their small masterpieces, postcards on 4"x6" card stock paper or other mediums providing they are thin and light in weight.
Copies of all submissions will be given to all participants.
The theme is "The Sacred Feminine", cards must be signed and dated on the back.
Self-Portraits
This is open to all gallery members to create a self-portrait. This exhibition may generate a few challenges; create artistic energy and call for contemplation. Your artistic challenge is to present your image and what will be the medium of choice that relates to you as an artist. The gallery encourages it's members to be creative and use the workshops that have transpired over the last few years to be a catalyst for your creation.
Portraits must be submitted by January 31, 2009
North Battleford Summer Artist Retreat Showing
This is the last call to artists who have attended the North Battleford Summer Retreats who wish to show their work in the August 2008 Gallery Exhibition. To date we have 17 Artists confirmed. If you wish to be part of this group please call the gallery as soon as possible. We are requesting that each of the participants submit 5 pieces of work that have either been started at or inspired by the summer retreat. You may submit work in any genre - paintings, mixed media, photography, writing, sculpture, video etc. Each artist must also submit a personal biography with a short paragraph about their experience at the retreats. Biographies must be submitted to the gallery by June 1st. Please note: all five pieces may not be shown pending space and/or curatorial decisions. Entry forms will be mailed out to participants who have registered.
Sketching from a Model held on the last Tuesday of each Month
Sessions from 1pm to 3pm restarting in September/2008. Bring your enthusiasm, paper and pencils. Materials can also be purchased through the Gallery Art Store

The ArtQuest group in Saskatoon is looking for new members from the North Battleford area.

Call for Gallery Exhibition 2008
The Chapel Gallery is a facility which features contemporary work by Saskatchewan Artists with a special focus on the visual arts in the Battlefords area. Through art exhibitions, special events and education programs the Chapel Gallery strives to encourage artistic growth and appreciation.
The Chapel Gallery hosts up to 10 gallery showings in its main gallery and up to 10 ambulatory showings yearly. A exhibition selection committee is chosen annually and charged with the responsibility of determining these exhibitions under the leadership of the Gallery Curator. Artists who make submissions will be advised of the Gallery’s decision as soon as possible after the submissions deadline and or curatorial team consultations. The gallery provides CARFAC fees to exhibiting artists.
Submission packages may be delivered in person or by mail. Please submit your visual presentations in either
1. High quality photograph or digital prints of at least 4’” x 6” size. Label the back of each print with artist’s name, title of work, medium, dimensions of original. Indicate the top of the print.
2. 35mm colour slide (not glass mount) Label the front of each slide mount with the artist’s mane, title of work, dimensions of original. Indicate the top of the slide image.
On a separate sheet provide an itemized listing of all print or slides submitted including the title, medium, and dimensions of original. The Gallery does not assume responsibility for lost or damaged submissions. Submission packages can be picked up at the Gallery or will be returned if a stamped, self addressed envelope is included with the submission package. If no return envelope is included the Gallery will assume that a submission package not picked up within 60 days of the entry date deadline is not wanted by the artist and will be discarded.
5. Models for Art Classes
I am setting up a data base of models who will pose for artists in all mediums to work out of the Chapel Gallery. I am sending out this notice for you to pass along to anyone who might be interested. I am looking for models 21 years of age or older and I am setting up a base pay rate of $15/hour. Models interested in being placed on the data base need to contact me and complete a model registration form.
6. Art Critiquing Services
Dean Bauche and I are always there to help Gallery Artist Members critique their current work. Members wishing private critique time are encouraged to book in advance.
